DR.SUBHASH MUKHERJEE




  Dr.Subhash Mukherjee  (also known as Dr.Subhas Mukhopadhaye) an Indian physician from Calcutta , made news when he became the first physician in India to perform the first 'in vitro fertilization' resulting in  a test tube baby namely 'Durga' . He will be always remembered as an unsung hero for the first test tube baby . He is known for the most successfull method for test tube baby. 

  On 3rd October 1978 ,Subhash Mukherjee along with Submit Mukherjee, a cryobiologist , and gynaecologist Dr.Saroj Kant Bhattacharya, announced the birth of  India's first and the world's second test tube baby in Calcutta (today known as Kolkata) .
  The official announcement came 67 days after the birth of first test tube baby in England .
  Today more than three million test tube babies see the light of day from the technique discovered by Dr. Subhash Mukherjee.
